Common questions
Is ShortCuta a subscription?
No. A license costs €29.99 and runs ShortCuta for one year on up to 3 computers. It doesn't renew or charge you again: when the year is up, you buy a new license to keep using the app.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Write to hi@shortcuta.com within 14 days of buying and you get the full price back, without giving a reason. The refund ends the license, and ShortCuta stops working when it next checks it.
Do I pay for the AI separately?
Yes. ShortCuta runs Claude Code or Codex signed in to your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, or uses a Claude API key. Picking clips, fixing captions and drafting layouts come out of that plan or your API credits.
What computer do I need?
A Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 14 or later, or a PC with 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. On Windows, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 or GTX 16 series card or newer makes transcription fast. Without one, transcription runs on the processor and takes much longer.
Does it work with Kick or YouTube streams?
Finding clips with AI works on Twitch VODs: paste a link, or track a channel and ShortCuta lists its new broadcasts. Any other video, like a stream you downloaded from Kick or YouTube, opens as a video file, and you cut Shorts from it in the same editor.
Can I clip other streamers?
ShortCuta works with any channel on Twitch, yours or someone else's. Publish only Shorts of streams you have the rights to, for example with the streamer's permission.
Does it work for streams that aren't in English?
Yes, in 24 European languages besides English. A channel that streams in another language gets a multilingual speech model, set automatically or by hand in the channel's settings.
Are my videos uploaded anywhere?
Only where you publish them: to your YouTube channel, or to your TikTok inbox as drafts you post from the TikTok app. Transcription, speaker detection and face tracking run on your computer. Claude or Codex get each clip's transcript and frames through your own account.
